Rhythmic displacement

Let's look at how to take a lick that you've transcribed and transflorm it rhythmically into a different sounding phrase but still using the same notes.

Vamos a ver como coger una frase que has transcrito y transformarla ritmicamente en una frase que suene diferente pero con las mismas notas.

If you look closely you'll see that he's using patterns, can you find them?  There are two basic ones.

This rhythm that he uses here might not work on all solos that you might play, so what we'll do is break it up into different rhythm groups like this:

A lo mejor este ritmo no funciona en todos los solos que uno quiere hacer, así que vamos a reorganizar estas notas en diferentes grupos de notas y queda así:

Now we have the same notes but with a different rhythm. Do this with as many licks as possible, you'll make them your own and won't be accused of soundin like a clone.  Now try changing this lick to triplets.

3 Octave Constant Fingering Major Scales Root on 5th string

Guess what? It works also if the root is on the 5th string. Check out the differences between this one and the previous one. It really doesn't matter if you slide with the 1st finger of the 4th. Whatever works best for you.

¿Sabes qué? También funciona si la tónica está en la 5ª cuerda. Mira las diferencias entre esta escala y la anterior. No importa si te deslizas con el 1º o el 4º dedo. Lo que te sea más útil.

3 Octave Constant Fingering Major Scales Root on 6th string

Here's a new one that I may have "invented" since I have never seen it in any of the many many guitar books I have seen and have at home.

Play any major scale starting on the 6th string and follow this pattern (see diagram above):
Play whole steps (2 frets) with fingers 1, 2 and 4. Change to the 5th string to the same fret you started on, on the 6th string and play whole steps with fingers 1, 1 (again...slide it), 2 and 4. Change strings and the whole thing repeats itself. Pretty cool huh? The only snag is between the 3rd and 2nd strings you have to jump a fret to compensate for the difference in tuning between those two strings.

Once you get the pattern down, you can really fly!

Aquí hay algo nuevo que puede que lo haya inventado ya que nunca lo he visto en ningun libro de los muchos que tengo. Toca cualquier escala mayor empezando en la 6ª cuerda y sigue este patrón (ver diagrama de arriba): Toca tonos enteros (2 trastes) con los dedos 1, 2 y 4. Cambia a la 5ª cuerda al mismo traste donde empezaste en la 6ª cuerda y toca tonos enteros con los dedos 1, 1 (de nuevo...deslizándolo), 2 y 4. Cambia de cuerda y repite el patrón. Cuando llegues al cambio entre la 3ª y 2ª cuerda tendrás que subir un traste. Una vez que tengas el patrón podrás tocar muy rápido.
